When families can reach out

Minnesota invented much of modern treatment, which is its own trap: with hundreds of options, families here argue about programs instead of talking to the person. The conversation has to come first.

We coach your family through one honest, rehearsed hour, then match him to care that fits, from the Twin Cities to anywhere we need to go.

Where we work in Minnesota

MinneapolisSt. PaulRochesterBloomingtonDuluth

We also work with families on the Iron Range, in the northwest farm counties, and with tribal communities across northern Minnesota, where the nearest program may be several hours south. G3 travels to you and can begin virtually the same day.

Where an intervention starts

It starts before anyone is in a room together. We spend time with the family to understand the history, the failed attempts, and the relationships, and then we build a plan around your specific situation. We help you decide who belongs at the table, script what each person will say, and prepare for the reactions that usually derail these conversations.

On the day, we keep it steady so it stays an act of love rather than a confrontation. Preparation is what separates an intervention that changes a life from a shouting match that hardens everyone’s positions. Families tell us the rehearsal was the moment they finally felt ready, because they stopped guessing and started knowing what they would say when their loved one pushed back.

Cutting through Minnesota's crowded field

Choosing a program should be about clinical fit, not about which center bought the most ads. We look at the whole picture: the substance and severity, any mental-health needs, the insurance reality, and what your loved one will actually accept. Then we match the right level of care, from detox to residential to intensive outpatient.

Because we take no referral fees, we can be blunt about the tradeoffs. Sometimes the well-known local name is the right call; sometimes a quieter program out of state is a far better fit for the specific person. We help you tell the difference, and we ask the pointed questions about staffing and discharge planning that marketing pages never answer. If you want to understand the ladder of options first, our guide to levels of care lays it out plainly.

The gap between yes and admitted is where a lot of families lose the moment. We arrange dependable sober transport so your loved one arrives calm and on time, even if the program is out of state. A trained companion through those first hours keeps a fragile decision from unraveling on the drive.

After that, we stay in the picture, coaching the family through the first weeks so home becomes part of the recovery instead of a pull back toward old patterns. We help you hold boundaries with warmth, answer the hard calls from treatment without caving, and build an aftercare plan before your loved one comes home rather than after the first crisis.

Getting there, and staying there

Family-led, nationwide

You will reach Matt or Hannah, not a call center.

Wherever you are in Minnesota, one confidential call starts it. We assess your situation and tell you honestly what the right next step is — even when that answer is not us.

Civil commitment questions in Minnesota

Some families ask whether Minnesota lets them require treatment for an adult. The state does have civil-commitment provisions that can apply in certain situations, but the criteria and process are specific and they change over time. We are interventionists, not attorneys, so we will not misstate the law.

If a legal route is worth exploring, confirm the current details with a Minnesota court and a local attorney. We generally start with a voluntary intervention, because people who choose treatment tend to stay in it longer than those pushed in by an order. Commitment can secure short-term safety, but the internal yes is what sustains recovery once any order ends.

When it is an emergency

An intervention is for someone who is unsafe over time, not in immediate danger. If there is an overdose, a weapon, or someone at risk this minute, call 911. For suicidal thinking or a psychiatric crisis, call or text 988. Overdose is a leading cause of preventable death nationally, as the CDC documents. Once everyone is safe, we can help you plan the next step calmly.

What happens when you call

From your first call to the first day of treatment.

Step 01

One confidential call

You tell us what is happening. No script and no pressure. We listen for the details that change the plan: the substances, the history, the risk, and who is actually in the family.

Step 02

We build the plan around you

We choose the model that fits, decide who should be in the room, and confirm a treatment bed that matches the clinical need and the budget — in Minneapolis, elsewhere in Minnesota, or out of state if that is genuinely better.

Step 03

We coach everyone first

Nobody walks in cold. Each person rehearses what they will say, and we plan for the pushback so a hard moment does not derail the room.

Step 04

The day, and the road after

Matt leads the conversation and keeps the tone steady. When the answer is yes, travel is already arranged and our transport team goes with them.

Common questions

Minnesota families ask us this first.

There are so many treatment centers in Minnesota. How do you choose?

We ignore marketing and start from clinical fit: the substance and severity, mental-health needs, insurance, and what your loved one will accept. Because we take no referral fees, we have no incentive to favor one center over another. We recommend the program that fits, in Minnesota or beyond.

Can you help if we are up north, away from the Twin Cities?

Yes. We serve the whole state and travel to you, whether you are in Duluth, on the Iron Range, or in a small town. Most preparation happens remotely, and we handle the logistics of getting your loved one to care.

Do you only do the intervention, or do you help afterward?

Both. The intervention is one day; recovery is a longer arc. We coach the family through the first weeks and help you build boundaries and an aftercare plan so the change holds.

What does your fee include, and what does it not?

We quote a flat fee in writing before you commit. It covers the assessment call, planning and coaching sessions with each participant, help writing and rehearsing what they will say, facilitation on the day, and coordinating admission with the program you choose. Travel is billed at cost, and sober transport is quoted separately once we know where he is going. Treatment itself is billed by the facility, not by us. We take no referral fees, which is why we can tell you when a well marketed program is wrong for him.

What if he says no in the room?

We plan for it, because it happens. Before the meeting every participant decides what changes if the answer is no: the money that stops, the living arrangement that changes, the shifts they will no longer cover at work. Those decisions get stated calmly, once, and then honored. We stay involved afterward, keep the family aligned so he cannot find a softer answer elsewhere, and keep the treatment option available where the program allows. A refusal often turns into a phone call two or three days later.

Does insurance pay for treatment in Minnesota?

Often, yes. Commercial plans and Medical Assistance both cover substance use treatment, and what you actually owe depends on the level of care, your deductible, and whether the program is in network. We verify benefits with the facility before you commit, get the out of pocket number in plain language, and flag programs that push you toward a longer or more expensive stay than the clinical picture supports. Our fee is separate and is not billed to insurance. If money is tight, say so early and we will look at state funded and sliding scale options too.

The next step is a conversation

You do not have to figure this out alone.

One confidential call with G3 begins it. No pressure, no judgment, just a path forward.
